Gypsy, Roma, Traveller (GRT) nurses project in Surrey

A project backed by Surrey County Council & the NHS, is well into its second year providing direct healthcare services to GRT communities on established permanent sites (public & private) as well as unauthorised encampments and house based people who may struggle to access medical support.

The nurses are trained in GRT culture, so have a good understanding of the often complex issues that many face in their day to day lives, and have made a hugely positive impact, being readily accepted and promoted within the community.
